ANASMA PERFORMS AND TEACHES AT THE SIROCCO FESTIVAL
THEATRE DANCE: GESTURAL MOVEMENT & STORYTELLING WITH MIME
Using your current dance technique you will be invited to reflect on the meaning and symbolism of your dance movement. Using aspects of mime Anasma will show how to transform everyday gestures into movement, develop character and tell stories through the face and body, as a soloist or as part of a group.
HIP-HOP LIQUID FUSION
Add to your dance the dynamism of Hip-Hop: its waving, liquid, popping and other techniques, together with such movement concepts as ticking, tracing and locking (phew!)
WARRIOR WOMAN: WUSHU DANCE FUSION
Anasma will work with the principles of the martial art wushu; playing with speed, pauses, animal imagery, emotions and defensive/offensive moves. She will look at the icon of the warrior woman and show how to apply the wushu aesthetic to your dance vocabulary. The workshop will end with a choreographic combination of wushu and Middle Eastern dance. *** No weapons needed; good knees and flexibility a plus!
CHOREOGRAPHY & IMPROVISATION TOOLBOX
Open the doors to creativity, overcome the fear of choreography and improvisation!
DANCING WITH FANS
Fan dancing is a feature of Asian culture, where it takes different forms. Anasma will teach how to manipulate single and double fans, and transform the fan into an extension of the body and the emotions. *** Bring your own fan or buy one at Sirocco; preferably with a wooden structure, covered in fabric rather than paper. It is better to use short fringe veils (up to 15cm) rather than fan veils (1 metre long).
